A Map Designed to Support Your Family

Nashville is home to an expansive network of literacy resources, including libraries, bookstores, and community organizations/centers, that contribute greatly to literacy efforts citywide. While these resources exist, they are often scattered or hard to find, preventing families and partners from leveraging the supports available near them. The Nashville Black Literacy Map gathers these resources into a single, easy-to-access tool so your family can see what’s nearby and connect with it directly.
 

What You Can Find

• Libraries, Black-owned bookstores, and community centers where children can have a space centered around learning and visualize themselves in the material they interact with. 

• Discover free and low-cost reading resources and enrichment opportunities for children and adults.

• Summer and weekend options that keep reading and educational enrichment going when school is out.

• Direct contact details so you can reach an organization without searching across commonly scattered websites.

How to Use It

Open the map, let it find your location or type in your address/neighborhood, and browse nearby resources. Tap any point to see what a program offers, who it serves, hours, and how to get in touch.
 

THE MAP IN ACTION  

•   Finding help for a second grader

A parent in Cane Ridge, Nashville, would like to find a Little Library for her second-grade son, but she is unsure what resources are available nearby. She opens up the map, filters for “Little Libraries” within a 1-mile radius, and finds 2 options. The parent and her son transport to one of the Little Libraries the following day and score 3 books, while returning 4.
