The NBLC Family Book Club webinar, held on February 20, 2025, was designed specifically to help families, educators, and community groups create their own family book clubs centered on Black authors. Led by Dr. Nicholl Montgomery and Dr. Monique S. Harris, the session showed that family book clubs can take many forms — from community-based clubs at local bookstores to school and homeschool settings — making them accessible to a wide range of families. Participants walked away with practical tips for planning discussions, selecting books everyone will enjoy, and incorporating fun activities that bring stories to life. Together, the discussion leaders offered an inspiring and resource-rich conversation for anyone passionate about building a family book club and amplifying Black voices in literature.
